Belgrade Fortress (Kalemegdan)
Kalemegdan fortress, located in the historical center of Belgrade, is one of the most beautiful places where you could spend a whole day.
It is located on a hill, over the confluence of the rivers Danube and Sava. The first settlements are from Roman times, when the settlement was called Singidunum. Due to its strategic location between Eastern and Western Europe and between Asia and Europe, the fortress was the target of many conquerors and armies - such as the Celts, Romans, Byzantines, Bulgarians, Turks, Austro-Hungarians and Serbs. Despite numerous damages, each time it was rebuilt, which testifies to its unbreakable history and importance for the city.
