Rastko Nemanjic, known as the Saint Sava was primarily the founder of the Serbian Orthodox Church in 1219, after it gained independence from the Byzantine Church. The Saint Sava was the first Serbian Bishop, he was spreading Christianity among Serbs and in the Balkans. His influence on the history and culture of the region is invaluable.
